Have a 2004 GX470 that my daughter will now be taking to a hilly school. Years ago, I drove with the emergency brake on and it not just flops when you try to engage it. Approx. what can I expect the cost to be to get this repaired?

The GX parking brake is actually a drum brake on the rear.

There's wire rope going from the handle to the drum, and there's an adjuster on it. See how much slack is left in there.

My guess is the wire snapped based on the "flopping around". Can't imaging it being too costly if that's the case - but then it is a Lexus...
