I just double checked the system again and it seems that it must have gotten overcharged. Damn, it read completely fine when I charged it and now it's overfilled.

got it fixed. I did overfill it and I just had jiffy lube vacuum out and recharge. it's working now. Well, another story that ends in "don't trust those self kits from walmart"

That's true Greggyg If you're not educated in refrigeration/air cond. best to leave to experts and sad to many so-called garage experts don't know either. If that's the case best to feel the return tubing a few inches from compressor and when it starts getting really cold it's time to stop filling. That assures that the evaporator is full of expanding refrigerant/oil and making its way to the compressor to keep it cool and lubricated.
Do this at your own risk as there are dangers around the fan, belts, etc.
