Key programming
Hi All,
I need to start this way,
First, I'm in the GS2 generation forum for long time.
Second, Now I have a friend that he no like much computers and he no want to do this, so I try to help him. He buy a GX470 2004 with 150,xxx miles and all, all services record at the local Lexus leader. Very nice be the way.
The only issue that he have is that he have or buy that GX with only one master key and when I see the key is the same of the GS300, GS400, GS430 and I think SC model key.
So, my question for you guys is; The programming Key for this GX is the same at the GS or SC cars?
Third, I ask this because I not see or found any thread in this forums about that.
Thank you in advance guys.

There's three things to worry about when adding a new key.
1. Getting the blade cut to work in the lock
2. Programming the car to accept the remote door-lock
3. Programming the car to accept the anti-theft chip in the key
(1) can be done by any good locksmith
(2) can be done by following the instructions here: http://blog.carandtruckremotes.com/2...fob-alarm-key/
(3) will need a dealer or the techstream software to program the immobilizer

The easiest and cheapest way to do this is to purchase a key off of e-bay, using a company that can cut the key by sending them a photo of the key from your phone.
Then you'll want to buy either the techstream software or a "Toyota Smart Keymaker" tool. The keymaker tool is usually available very cheap, and is much simpler than using techstream.
Instructions are available on this forum and elsewhere to program the key.
