Default Aftermarket DVD player connected to front navigation screen...Not

After working on this for many months I finally gave up. I have concluded that it is beyond my power, and the company I have been working with to connect a 3rd party DVD Player to the Navigation Screen. There are certain signals inherit in the ICU that comes along with the factory rear entertainment system that triggers the navigation to screen to understand that the DVD player is installed and cycling through modes will now bring up a new option.

So as a second option, I tried to purchase the parts. A screen, player, ICU (computer), wiring harness, and hanger. All totaling over 7k for list. I was able to obtain about a 25% discount, but still, this wasn't an option.

So the parts manager suggested I speak to sales to see what they could do about trading my GX with 7500 miles on it in for a new one. They had a Blue Merdian, with Ivory Interior (my original first choice) in stock with a rear trailer hitch (something I wanted as well), no lexus link (great, it was a pain listening to "The Lexus Link System is active"), and Rear Spoiler.

I negotiated 2000 off the sticker and they ate the tax amount. Gave me 46,500 for my Ash Blue GX with 7500 miles on it. Same day I did the paperwork and picked it up.

Am I crazy? :-)

They gave you 2K off sticker and 46,500 for a used GX with 7500 miles, no RSES, Tow Hitch, etc..? I think the dealer is crazy. I would have expected you to take it in the *** much more on the trade. Granted, you paid another 5K probably for the vehicle, but you now have a brand new GX with 0 miles and all the options you want.

I think you did just fine

Some Lexus dealers are installing an aftermarket Rear Entertainment system in vehicles that don't come already equipped with them. Will these systems work with the Navigation system? Or does it depend on the after market RES vendor?

They will not work with the NAV system. That's one of the reasons why after all my efforts trying to connect, I traded mine in.

There maybe a possibility that www.video-nav.com may offer a solution for the GX in the future.
