TRD Supercharger Transfer From Sequoia to GX470?
I have been wanting to supercharge my 2004 GX470 after I first took it up to high altitude with a full load and found that it had a lot of difficulty maintaining speed. It feels like a beast at sea level, but power drops off more than any vehicle I have ever owned above 10,000ft.
In any case, I came across a TRD supercharger taken off of a 2003 Sequoia 2UZFE with all the parts. I have not found reliable answers as to whether the piggypack ECU will function correctly from the Sequoia to the GX. Mechanically, the 2UZ's are essentially the same, so that shouldn't be an issue, minus some possible airbox modifications. I am hesistant to install it without assurance that the ECU's are the same or similar enough that it isn't going to detonate my engine.
Does anyone know if the ECU piggyback plugin is compatible between a 2003 Sequoia and 2004 GX470?
If they are not, are there alternatives or solutions?
I have heard that UniChip might be a solution, if there is a problem. If the provided piggyback is compatible, then I would rather just stick with that.

Did you try searching this forum for TRD supercharger?

Edit - sorry, see you are asking a much more specific question about ECU, not 'will it fit'! Was thrown off by the other replies on that topic
Might try looking at the parts numbers sold for 2003 / 2004 TRD Supercharger to see if it changed at all. I'd guess year-to-year is as big a risk as vehicle to vehicle

I would also think that it would work just fine. And yes, it will physically fit with no issues. Maybe contact URD and see if they can definitively answer. If the answer is no, they can provide tuning for it anyways.

BlackCat, that's a good idea. I think they would be the most reliable resource at this point. The Toyota/Lexus dealers and Toyota can't/won't answer any questions about that. I sent a message to URD. Just waiting to see if they can give me an answer.

Wikipedia page suggests only the GX470 got a V8 in a 120 Prado platform. If anyone can find an example and link to it I'd love to check it out.

The reason I ask is if all the SC'd Prado's are V6, then you can't reason that a Sequoia SC in a GX470 will allow the hood to close.

Yeah, the hood closure isn't a concern. Even if it were, it's small potatoes compared to electronics, in my opinion.
I contacted URD and they responded with
"Those TRD control units were very specific for vehicle and year. You may not get it to work. We use the MAP-ECU to replace those control units."
I'm sure that somewhere out there in the world is some person that can say,
"YES, the piggy-back TRD unit is compatible between the 2UZFE ECU's on a 2003 Sequoia and a 2004 GX470"
or
"NO, the 2003 Sequoia's 2UZFE ECU has X-Y-Z settings different than the 2UZFE ECU in a 2004 GX470 and is not compatible for these reasons"
...... but I think the URD response is as good as I am going to get. Perhaps I'll just bite the bullet and get a MAP-ECU

I never actually got around to installing my supercharger. A lot of interference this past year with projects. I would like to get everything ready to go for installation when the snow melts in a few months.
Does anyone know if the supercharged engines required a different airbox and MAF, or does it reuse the same components?
