Buying my first GX470 - which one to get?
#16
I'm with you there, it seems there are far more nav optioned GX's than not. I've been shopping for a few months now. My only requirement so far is to have a non nav so I can easily install something with built in Bluetooth; hell I'd even be ok with the nav if there was a way to wire something behind the stock stereo to allow bluetooth. I'm not at all an audiophile but I have a huge pet peeve of wire clutter and cant stand AUX cables laying around.
I might try the Tesla style in the future but want to wait a while since it controls more than just audio.

Look at VAIS TECH for the Bluetooth option. Other members on this board recommended it to me and I love it - no visible aux or charging cables anymore. It's also relatively easy to install.

I would base it more on the condition than anything else. My '03 is pretty gritty looking underneath but it's spend most of its life in New England. The '08 that I just bought came from the Bay Area and is pristine underneath. I'd be wary of anything with prior hail damage (unless you get it on the cheap and are comfortable with a lot of risk). With all of the flooding over the last several years in this country, I'd steer clear of anything salvage if it were me.
Good luck with your purchase, whatever you decide. GXs are great vehicles.

When it comes to price the 470 really has me beat on how validate a good deal. But nonetheless congrats
2004, 144k miles, $11k, No Nav
2003, 90k miles, $12k, has nav
one less year, 1.5x more miles and only ticks the needle 1k less?
Heck I remember 2 months ago I offered edmunds used car value for a accident repaired vehicle and was told I was out of my mind.

Between those two, I'd go with the '03 (and make sure that they've done the timing belt servicing). And if they haven't, ask that they do it. The one that I got with 102k miles on it hadn't had the timing belt replaced so I negotiated that they do the service at no cost as part of the deal.
