Default Max lift to keep alignment specs in range? (without UCA)

Did anyone with a 2.5" lift have issues getting the caster it the recommended range? Any uneven tire wear? I want to avoid upgrading the UCA's. Had SPC's on my FJ and they were too noisy (and I don't want to shell out the $ for them this time). I originally had 5100's on the highest setting on the FJ without the UCA's and had horrible tire wear.

I put about 20K miles a year on the my cars and don't want to chew through tires. What about 1.5-2" lifts?

Any advice/experience is appreciated!

I think 1.5 will be fine and maybe even 2"
2.5" you might be pushing the limits
I honestly would check with the forum of IH8MUD
those guys are a little more into lifts and things than this site

You do know that caster doesn’t directly affect tire wear, right? If you’re worried about chewing thru tires, make sure you’re toe is on the money, as it is the most direct link to tire wear.

Thanks. I'll check there as well.

I wasn't 100% on that. It did wander all over the place at highway speeds. I don't recall them not being able to get the toe in check but do remember having caster issues. I think it may have been a combo of things including the tire balancing.

In general, i'm just wondering if those with 2-2.5 lifts have had issues with tire wear/alignment issues.

Just my $0.02, but I think the OEM UCA's are one of the poorest parts of the vehicle. Even on a stock setup, they don't have enough angle to allow free travel if you put it on a lift, hang a tire over a dip, or otherwise let the suspension extend out. I was really surprised how bad they were when I went to replace them with the Total Chaos replacements.

You can get away with 2" of lift and it will probably be functional, but it's definitely going to put a lot of unnecessary torque on the components.

caster does create wandering. Camber can cause pull issues as well. My truck was all sorts of out of alignment lifted 2.5” without Total Chaos uppers.
