Colorado? Look for something with a turbo or supercharger. Otherwise you'll lose too much power to the elevation.

I personally would not tow that fast with my GX. Wheelbase is too short and it feels like it has a high center of gravity. I am sure there are tons of people on the forum that do it though. As far as the weight itself, you should be fine. You are going to be in second gear going up steep hills at altitude though. I've pulled a loaded 6x12 enclosed with no real issues that was around 5,000 pounds. A car on an open trailer is actually easier since it isn't a barn door being dragged behind the truck.

What turbocharged or supercharged tow vehicle do you recommend that is a competitor to the GX?

If he wants to tow that kind of weight at that kind of speed at elevation, the GX or a competitor isn't what he needs, he should be shopping 3/4 ton diesel trucks.

Yep. Something like a F-250 (6.7 liter) or RAM 2500 (Cummins) pickup. The problem is the used ones (that aren't beat up) aren't as cheap as you would think they ought to be.

I vote for the Toyota Tundra. It pulls the Space Shuttle. See...
