Hello!
My wife drives a 2006 Lexus GX740. She got it used, but when she first got it, all was working well. A few months ago, a fuse blew and several components went out including the Navigation Display. I brought it to my local mechanic and he systematically went through all of the components associated with the blown fuse and found out the navigation display was blowing the fuse. (When connected the fuse blows. With it completely off the fuse does not blow). Is this common? Does anyone have an idea of what made the fuse blow by plugging in the display? Obviously, it is a short...but is it easily repairable? Thanks!

Try disconnecting the nav system (I assume you're talking about the display in the dash, not the DVD drive under the passenger seat) and see if the fuse blows again - that'll tell you if it's the wiring or internal to the nav equipment.
If it's the wiring, some investigation will be needed - running your hand along the wiring looking for frayed insulation, or maybe where it's been rubbed through on a sharp metal bracket.

I ordered a replacement display from a scrap yard via car parts. The display is currently out of the car, and the fuse is not blowing with it out - that is why I know the short is within the display/navigation system unit. It is the touchscreen unit (directly above the stereo) that I am referring to - not the unit under the passenger seat. I am wondering if there are known problems with the display unit itself.
Thanks for the replies!

BTW - the car is a Lexus GX470 (not GX740). I always get this model messed up!
