Default Headunit install with OUT Nav & Mark Levinson

Hey guys,

I'm picking up a 04' GX470 without Nav and Mark Levinson on saturday. The stock radio isn't working, so i'm just replacing with a after market head unit.

I know there are a ton stickies up top and maybe i'm just missing them, so I apologize in advance.

What all am I needing? I've got a double din trim mount and Pioneer AVH200 coming already. I keep reading threads that the GX470 is easy to screw up factory electronics.

Does this set up have an OEM amp? Can I just wire in the pioneer harness?

Thanks in advance

In your situation I’d take the opportunity to install a Tesla style 10 inch screen there.

For the cost of a nice head unit (Or much less) can have a huge screen full function system

This is the harness that would let your install be easy to tap into the stock wiring

there is a nice video that shows how to take apart the dash parts to change out the radio somewhere here. It is easy to do.

You need the following:

Tyto-01 harness
70-8114 harness
aswc-1 harness
dkmus trim plate (it’s black not gray but cheap)
camera
Xm Tuner / gps tuner if you want

Great deal for someone wanting to upgrade from no nav to massive Tesla like screen!

Can someone post before and after pictures of this install?

Ours is with NAV and I'm hoping to see some installs here and find out what is best.

I have the opportunity to buy an 04 with 84,000 miles. The drawback is it doesn't have navigation backup camera or a trailer hitch. Will the Phoenix head unit integrate into a non nav GX without a problem. I'm sure there are some wiring harnesses I would need but is it all Plug and Play.
And are you able to tell me what features I may lose and what features I may gain by adding this Phoenix head unit. Thanks Tom

Great question of whether it would work with non-NAV

seems to me you would need a gps antenna and a backup camera that your truck would not have. Both of which are no big deal to get.

Best set answer might be to contact the company selling the unit. Might take more than one call to get a knowledgeable person on the phone.

Does anyone one here know if the dash cutout shape is same between nav and non? EDIT: just looked, outside looks the same.
