Question For those that have installed GX460 calipers/rotors on GX470...

I've read where at least one person said they bought and installed GX460 calipers and rotors on their GX470, seemed like they were a direct bolt on.

I am curious to know if anyone who has installed these calipers (which have a different part #) have experienced the seizing that is common on the GX470.

Also curious if anyone has looked into what the differences are between the calipers, if there are any?

I am getting tired of replacing my calipers, they don't last for crap.

I could have purchased the Stop Tech big brake kit for what I have spent on rotors/calipers over the last 6 yrs.

2010 spec GX460 calipers and rotors are a direct bolt on for a GX470, pads are interchangeable despite different part #'s. I haven't had them on long enough to provide a long term review, but they are a thicker rotor, and the caliper varies to suit the different rotor.

Six years?! Did you replace with reman calipers or new Toyota calipers?

Tried remanufactured calipers, twice, fail.

Purchased OEM twice, once installed by an Indy 2nd purchased and installed through a Toyota dealer. fail.

Thanks Ian. So it sounds like there were some design changes between the rotor and caliper, even though it is direct bolt on.

Perhaps I should query the 460 forum to see if they've had problems with the OEM calipers.

Same calipers were used on some 5th gen 4Runners as well.

By chance do you have the part numbers handy?

Did you buy the parts and have an indy install them or did a dealer agree to do it?

I don't have a part #, I bought calipers and rotors for a 2010 GX460 and installed them myself.

Ian - Do you think other model year GX460's brakes, rotors and calipers will also fit then? Not just 2010?

Definitely, I'm just not sure of the year the parts changed, so ordering for a 2010 ensures you get the right stuff.
