Looking at replacing the stock rims on my 2006 GX. Really like the look of the matte gray TRD PRO wheels used on 4runner (Toyota #PTR2035110GR).
As I continue researching it looks like the OEM TRD PRO wheels recommend P265/70r/17 tires where stock GX470 tires are P265/65r/17. I have seen a few posts but any risk with this project? Am I able to mount the r65 tires on the trd pro rims? If not, any rubbing issues in using 70r tires on the GX?
Appreciate any insight and help on this one. Want to avoid any modification to the vehicle if possible.
Thanks,
Here are our wheels on a lifted GX. I really wanted the Tandem wheels. They never got back to me, after about 6 or 8 emails on a delivery date. So, I went with these in a GMG.
(Tires are KO2's 285 70 17)

i like this lift and wheel package. What lift are you running and what width and offset are the trd pros?

Thanks,
TRD wheels look great ... but many are only 7-inches wide ... way too narrow in my opinion ... 7.5-inches is the minimum I would run on the GX470 ... with 8-inches being perfect for 265 tires. With 7-inch wheels, there is way too much sidewall bulge ... great for extra wheel protection when bouncing off of boulders, but for on-road handling ... the steering response will be somewhat vague in comparison to running the standard GX470 7.5-inch wheel width.
Going with an 8-inch wide wheel and bumping the wheel (offset) outboard 8-10mm will just place the edge of the tire tread in vertical alignment with the edge of the fender flare for a more commanding and planted stance. IMHO ... inboard from this reference = "Soccer Mom Stance" ... Outboard from this reference = "Redneck Stance"
I had TRD wheels delivered on my FJ Cruiser ... loved the design but could not live with the anemic 7-inch width combined with the typical Toyota (way too) inboard offset.
Up in Tempe. Just scored this ride 2 days ago. Full AZ car, not a SPOT of rust and only 120k on it.
Next up, LED's inside and out, Bilstein 5100's on the front, some WeatherTech inside and Coverking seat covers as the leather is cherry. Mud an snow in a week!
If you're looking for a less expensive alternative, OE Wheels is a good place to start. They have an OEM 4Runner style that I paired with Bridgestone Revo 2’s. The wheels were $600 shipped and the tires were....well, not that cheap. I also added Lexus logos from eBay to finish them off. I also wanted TRD wheels but these are a nice alternative.
