HI guys,
i just went to look at a low mileage (110k mls) 2003 gx470. After the truck had idled for 20+ minutes and was lightly driven I removed the oil cap and noticed a small amount of smoke coming out. I also saw what look like some old burnt oil around the rim of the engine block (engine oil cap was clean).
I tried to replicate the situation.. running it without the oil cap, running it then removing the oil cap etc etc but couldn't make it happen.
Is this considered normal? I imagine it happened the first time due to the engine running/idling longer?
Thanks for any help!

Agreed, some vapor out the oil cap opening of a running engine isn't unusual. If you set the loose oil cap on the opening and it's dancing around like crazy, that's cause for concern IMO.

What color was the oil? Gold-ish to black is normal. Milky white or peanut-butter colored is not.
