Looking to get into the life of overlanding and I am tossed between a GX and an LX. I will be traveling alone most of the time and just would like a little guidance along the way. Have owned FJ Cruiser, Taco and now have a Tundra. I am a Toyota guy through and through. I like big bore firearms and have always preferred boxy to clean lines. Now that I have my 2014 Tundra I am set with a truck. I like the size of the LX and the looks of the GX with the swing out rear door. But then I also love the tailgate on the LX. I have watched every known video on LX and GX overlanding and watched them again. I even got my 83 yr old dad interested and may take a trip with him this summer to Phoenix and would love to do some over landing on the way.

LX is much bigger inside, but then is much bigger outside...you planning to sleep in or on it?

They are similar, but different. Without more info on how you plan to use the truck, it's difficult to recommend one over the other for you. They are both excellent.

Not sure what your actual question is... both are great overlanding platforms with there ups and downs.

You just have to drive each and see which you like.
