lower ball joint replacement
I'm not sure if I need one yet, I'm hearing a faint clunk occasionally when I am slowly stopping. Just curious though about the part number, does anyone know it? I can't seem to find it and I'm also curious as to how hard/easy it is to change? We don't need the entire lower control arm do we?

Many guys do the entire LCA as the bushings will be worn out as well by the time the LBJ goes. By the time you replace the bushings and LBJ, you're probably further ahead replacing the entire LCA, but they aren't cheap for OEM.

I have KDSS by the way, and my driveshaft had the TSB done before I got it, and I keep up with greasing the yoke. I think it may be related to my KDSS sway bar in the vertical hydraulic shaft. I'm not 100% sure.

side note- i too was getting clunking noise but that was only when i took off from a dead stop. If i accelerate slowly, i dont get the clunk which sounds like its coming from the driver side wheel. I assumed it was my LCA case thats the only thing that was not replaced in that region. I replaced the tie rod, rebooted my OEM axle, installed ICON shocks and springs, installed SPC UCA. Clunk still there....maybe something is loose??

I have KDSS as well and did my LCA this past weekend. Something to keep in mine. Lexus/Toyota in USA does not sell OEM LBJ separately, but they do sell the complete KDSS LCA for about $400+ each side (not the route i went). I purchased the OEM LBJ from ebay for about $110 a pair, part number 43340-60020 and all four OEM LCA bushings for about $130. One of my LBJ was opened and was puncture in the rubber so i am working with the selling to get partial refund. As for the punctured LBJ, i replaced it with a great aftermarket unit branded 555 Sankei, which is known to be OEM or equivalent and has been widely recommended with the off-road community, GXOR/ih8mud. Stay away from Moog.

what did you do to gain access to that area? took off the two 19mm bolts to separate the lower control arm from the knuckle/axle, remove the ball joint spindle bolt thing, then what did you do to gain access to the ball joint, disconnect the outer tie rods and then swing the assembly over to the side some?
