2009 GX470 Radio Trouble
#17
Mr. Jason
Just got around to taking care of this issue. I delayed because it magically started working for a week or so after your message. There clearly is an issue with the RSES creating this 'rapid on/off mute condition'. The issue appears to be fixed (hopefully for good) with the disconnect of the RSES wiring.
On a side note, the bezel around my system has a different fixation (2009). I am fairly certain it is OEM as I bought the truck new in 2009. It actually has integrated lights in the bezel. There are 4 light blue 'push in' trim connectors near the four corners PLUS a 10mm screw under the light lense in the middle on each side.
Just thought I would share for any others that need to remove the RSES.
Best - joe

Thanks Joe,
Wife's 470 has been doing this and the bump with the hand on the roof DVD has stopped working recently, to correct the issue.
Was unsure of the clips on the trim, as we too have the courtesy lights in the trim panel.
This stops the skipping.
Remove both right and left light covers on trim.
Take the 2 screws out, one being in each light housing where you took the light covers off.
On the four corners pry the push pins out.
This is where they are located.
Let the trim housing hang and remove the larger plug on the driver's side of the DVD player.
Let the plug rest unplugged next to the DVD unit and replace your trim housing and push in the 4 corner push pins, screw back in the 2 screws and replace the light covers.
You should have no more sound skipping on any of the stereo systems, and your back up camera should be working.
God Bless,
David B.
