Default Feature programmer/scanner....

Being a technician for over 2 decades I’ve accumulated a massive amount of tools, scanners, and such. Honestly, if my wife realized my tool collection is worth more than our home... she’d probably be furious. Lol
But the tools paid for or house and rental properties.. so I guess it evens out.

Back on track.... I need a decent Toyota/Lexus handheld Lexus scanner/programmer for things like programming TPMS sensors, remotes, changing creature comfort functions, retracting epb for rear pad changes.

Anyone here know of a good one???

ive got 2 little hand helps already... 1 does German cars the other does ford and GM.

I paid $59.99 each from amazon. And these things are nice for quick jobs where I don’t need to evaluate PID data and/or diagnosis... just basic maintenance and such.

Techstream software with cable that runs on a laptop is cheap and available on Amazon, there are instructions to get it running on Win10 OS now as well. Carista is a standalone solution that is supposed to do the same stuff.

Techstream is what Toyota/Lexus dealerships use from my understanding. Also if you're going to be using this for commercial purposes a questionably legal copy of Techstream software is probably not the way to go.

This won’t be for any “on the books” purposes...

has as anyone purchased a techstream version off of amazon? There is literally 100’s to choose from. If so, which brand did you purchase?

I didn't use Amazon, I used Ebay and this is the one I purchased and use with great success.

Ok... just an FYI... the “Carista” obd2 app/connector sucks!!! Like really sucks.. it works great for Audi but doesn’t work on half the Toyota’s and Lexus models it advertises for. It only works as a code reader on our GX models. It can’t even clear the codes. Lol

the Audi function is cool, but you can buy a hand held for $50 that doesn’t have a monthly fee and does way more than this device.

So pirated techstream it is.

I see guys with 5th gen 4Runners using it to program all the settings like having the windows roll down with the key, etc. I would have expected it would work as well with the GX's as well, so this is good info.

Same here... it works on the second gen GX. But not the first gen.
Its got some cool features... but not worth $20 for the free stuff and not worth $30 a month for the cool features.

Hopefully the techstream will work.

Yeah, I'm a HUGE Audi fan/owner and would not buy any Audi without my RossTech VAG Com.. Now this Carista is pretty much new to the scene, but IMHO will never replace the VAG Com.

I noticed the link is for software only. That seems to be the easy part. Has an adapter been found that works the way it should on a laptop that wasn’t made in the early 2000’s?

Correct, because that software can be used with Windows 10, hence why I used it on my new(er) laptop. I already had the cable from something else.
