Not to get off the issue, but how about posting some pictures of your rig with the 22s. Sounds cool. Would like the full details, tire size, wheel off-set etc.

Thumbs up

Two different vibrations, the wheels and tires may have cured the higher speed vibration but not the one at 1700 to 2200 RPM in any gear.

Not 2 different issues. I t cured the the vibration at 1700 rpm also. Don't know why, just glad it's gone cause it was very annoying and Lexus was getting nowhere trying to fix it. Will let you know if it comes back, but so far so good.

I'll post pictures as soon as I get a chance.

I think the poster was trying to say that the tires are in NO way related to the vibration caused by the driveline. There are two different things being discussed here.

1. The vibration felt thru the steering wheel and gas pedal at 60-65mph in top gear when slightly on the gas. This is a DRIVELINE issue and not related to the wheels or tires.

2. Vibrations caused by out of balance wheels and or tires.

They are two different problems. If your tires are out of balance - that's a simple fix. The driveline issue is much more complicated.

Well, I'm not going to argue the point. I know what the poster was saying. The vibration that I was feeling in the steering wheel in between 1700 and 2100 rpm is also gone. Like I stated, I have no idea why since Lexus did not know how to fix it. They had my vehicle 3 times: balanced the tires twice since there was noticeable vibration at 65 mph. None of tthe remedies they tried fixed the problems. I put 22 inch wheels since I got a good deal from a friend and now I have no vibration at all. Not the vibration at 1700 rpm nor the shaking at high speeds. I'm not an expert, so I don't know why this is. All I know is it's gone and I'm happy now.

Default Maybe it is the 4wd System?

What I notice at the 65-70mph range is kind of a humming noise of two spinning forces attempting to get in synch.

If you havge ever been on a boat with two engines, you'll notice when the engines are close to the same RPM's you will hear a on and off hum noise. As they synch up, the hum goes away.

Is it possible that because we have that sophisticated 4wd system (Torsen?) where the torque is distributed from the front to the back, that there are two spinning forces (the axles) that are changing speeds ever so slightly? At 65-70 this would definitely cause a noise.

Unhappy Re: Please describe

Guys,

at first I thought I had the vibration issue too, but what you guys are all describing seems very pronounced, at least compared to what you are all describing. The vibration I am getting is no where's near as bad as a wheel balancing issue, I'd equate it more to the steering wheel feeling like an electric toothbrush on it's lowest setting.

Anyway for some of us that are "in the dark" still on this can you be a little more descriptive on the issue, I mean I've had vibration issues for instance when my tires are flat-spotted from sitting for a prolonged perid on my GS where you can actually see the steering wheel bouncing, but it goes away once the tires heat up and re-shape...is the vibration you guys get that bad?? Or does it feel like an electric shock thru the steering wheel? Just trying to better understand the concerns.
I just started getting the vibration or noticing it at about 700 miles. Like you Johnny, to me it feels more like an electric toothbrush. At first, I thought I was imagining it after reading all these posts - maybe I was paranoid and looking for the problem. But now I think it is the problem you describe. I do not get a heavy shaking just an annoying buzz. Sometimes the buzz comes from the floor also. It happens mostly at around 1700 and seems to feel like a transmission thing....I know nothing about the mechanics but it seems to occur with acceleration. Anyway, I am very bummed out to have developed this problem....I guess I am now an official member of the club.
