Default Removal of shift ****

Hi Folks,

I was playing around with the idea of making a shift **** in my shop with some embedded electronics (because being retires is EXTREMELY boring and noticed it appears connected to the shifter boot. Can anyone confirm whether the **** in fact does remove without taking the boot with it? If so, what's a one-liner for the method? Thanks.

It just unscrews off and a half turn on the chrome ring removes it from the boot.

If you are like me, and need "moving visuals" Then watch the video from :55 - 1:13 as it shows you how to remove both shift *****:

Appreciate the effort and thank you! I'm still a little curious how the boot separated from the ****... I've turned the **** repeatedly with no hint it's moving up along a thread. It does seem easy. It's coming up on midnight... it's raining... but I'm going out there and give it another try. If I come in without the ****, I deserve all the shame I can be given!
