Grill Question...
Does the rubber strip (protector) between the hood and chrome grill go all the way around the grill or just the top half? I ordered 53119-60050 and it's only long enough to fit the top and half way down the side.

Looking at my 2005... the rubber is 2 pieces... an upper and lower. The upper section is wider and thicker. It comes down about 2 and a 1/2”’s on each side.. then a smaller piece is butted up against it and travels around the bottom and the rest of the side portions.

Here’s the only exploded view I could find on all data... doesn’t show the rubber seal you are referring to though...

Here's a couple screenshots from Toyota, hopefully this is what you need to see.

right, it appears to be a full circular rubber gasket but no it's only the top half..mine looked reinstalled sloppy but full all the way around so I ordered the 'protector' and got enough to do half
wondering now what is correct, I do have the right part #53119-60050 confirmed from multiple schematics...could very well be my old one was aftermarket...now MrJason says his goes all the way around with two pieces? confused.

Any pics I can see online searching with the part # are illustrations that seem to show the gasket going all the way around. Can you post pics of what you're working with? I'll try and remember to look at mine tonight, I just got a new hood, grille, etc so we'll see what I ended up with.

OK, I can't see the gasket from outside the truck like yours in the pic above, so you've got it installed wrong if that's not already obvious. From behind the grille I can see that there is 2 pieces to the gasket, and mine does have the lower gasket as well as the one you've got. You can see the gaskets butt up against each other in the 2nd pic.

Thats exactly what I was referring too. But I’ve seen several parts that cone as 2 pieces.. especially when dealing with gaskets, seals, and grommets.
I guess I should’ve posted a picture of my grill earlier.

I have a scratch and a small crack in the lower front balance on my wife’s Q3... I’m afraid to even take it to a body shop. I’ll most likely see if I can get a check to just fix it and paint it my self.
You literally can’t find a good body repair shop anymore. I do so much repair work after they finish with a car... and I’m truly surprised any of the Body shops are still in business.
