You're not alone lol I found out about them 6 years ago or so, and my first 4wd was in the early 90s.
But back on topic, that E30 is gorgeous!!!

Check if there's a medical exemption in Louisiana. VA allows 50 front and 35 on the rest but a medical exemption allows 35 all around and 70 on the windshield. All it took to get one was for my doctor to sign a form and I have it on my registration so no more tickets

Catching up on updates again.
I drove the GX the week following the timing belt/tstat/WP & spark plugs service to make sure everything was in good order, and it was... until that Friday when the charging system light greeted me on my way to go have a beer after work.
Since that beer was going to be with my friends at the shop where I had the last batch of work done anyway, I asked one of the guys to test the system for me. The test revealed the battery was fine but the alternator wasn't charging it. An OEM Denso was ordered and I hitched a ride home with another friend.
The new alternator was delivered and installed Monday, I picked up the GX the next morning and have been driving it all week without issue. Today I officially turn it over to the missus for it to become her DD.
I also programmed out all of the annoying door lock and unlock routines based on the shift lever position or vehicle speed. My next job will be to address the "sticky" lock on the driver rear door. It locks fine but has to be unlocked manually to open the door from the outside.

“Life a box of chocolates, never know what’s inside”. Also bought a GX 470 2009 138k mi. Lexus maintained by owner 1 to 128k (time belt 116k). Owner 2 did no maintenance besides oil/filter changes & battery, neglected leaking A/C. Minimal rust for a MN truck. Leathers are pristine as is entire interior/exterior body & paint ? Solo drivers ? No friends? Bought it pvt. party.
At +109 miles alternator and A/C fail...
Found CARspecmn.com indie Toyota-Lexus certified repair for above. Add new front calipers and rotors, diff oil change. Deferring minuscule leak in L rear airbag to next spring. How rough is coil spring ride alternative?

The legal limit in Tennessee is 35% for (front) door windows. According to the shop I use for tinting all my cars, the rears on the GX were closest to a 25% film they carry. I did the fronts in 35% to stay legal. The difference is subtle enough that only the most discerning eye will be able to tell the difference.
I'm going for 20% fronts and 70% windshield.
Doing nano-ceramic tint. The tint protects from the heat better than usual one and it does not have metal, so no radio issues as well. I compared my dash on heat rate to a car with 70% nano-ceramic tint and there was a difference for sure. Both vehicles under the direct Sun. So, it will definitely protect my interior.

I put high quality IR-blocking tint on my DD and it definitely makes a difference.
I'd have preferred to match the fronts to the rears more closely, but they enforce tint violations pretty aggressively in my area.

The legal for fronts in the state I'm in is 30%. I have a coupe with 20% and so far so good. On an SUV the % looks lighter than on a sedan cause the car is higher plus light color interior on mine. That's why I'm going for 20%. I did not believe that my back tint was 25% on a GX until I had a test done. It looks much lighter than 20% on my coupe.

Now you have to send that prescription to the state police in Baton Rouge... where it gets verified... and you receive a “tint card” for a $50 fee.
Without that state trooper “tint card”, I cant pass a car on the inspection.
The funny part part is that it’s always off duty LEO’s that throw a fit when I won’t pass their personal vehicle because of tint. They try and tell me their badge makes them exempt.
Go figure.

My Opinion-
Sometimes, laws are made, then a while later Amended. Why? because "Inner Circle" realizes it hurts them, just as much as it hurts us consumers lol
Again, Just my Opinion.... lol
Okay, go better have my second cup of coffee.
