Default Too good MPG

I am now getting 17.5 , wife gets 18 mpg when she driving it , I did tried to change the way I drive as I was getting 15.5 before .
But then I feel like I reverted back , I do not trust the onboard computer .

Anyone having , questioning their MPG computer ??

The computer may or may not be accurate, but it is consistent. Putting bigger tires on, for example, will cause the reported fuel economy to change both because of the change in fuel economy you are experiencing due to the heavier tires and taller gearing, and the less accurate data being provided to the computer as you are now travelling further than reported. But it knows if your wife is getting better fuel economy than you! The only thing that's changed is the driver.

These things guzzle fuel when idling, maybe your wife just doesn't idle the truck and you do?

computer MPG reader is 1-1.5mpg over anyways... so your wife's 18 is really 16.5... and your 17.5 is really like 16. Do the actual math of miles driven/gallons filled to see how far off your "actual" is compared to your computer reading.

My mpg only got close to the computer reading after i swapped to 33"

You guys do know about the DT headers that give a crap ton more mileage? I'm getting about 70 more to a tank highway and that's no joke.

The mileage computer may be consistent, but it's consistently wrong.

Fuelly has good numbers (see signature). But you do have to enter them yourself.

Idling is definitely bad for mileage. When I lived in Austin, my mpg would go down 1 mpg when the schools were in session, because the additional traffic meant I wasn't moving.

Doug Thorley Headers(Aka, aftermarket headers). Possibly lighter, but more importantly, Better flow/less restrictive. Granted better MPGs, as long as you stay off the throttle, as the sound they create will make you MASH that gas pedal.

You referring to the LT or ST headers?
