Default High Mileage GX470 Questions.

Hi everyone,

I just bought a 2007 GX470 with 210k miles. The owner kept a meticulous record of everything he's done but I still want to go through the GX and replace things like the fluids. I was thinking of doing: oil change, transmission fluid, diff fluid, spark plugs (no records of this being done), brake fluid, coolant flush. Is there anything else you guys recommend on doing while I'm at it?

Also, there seems to be rear main seal leak. The leak is very minor and isn't enough to hit the floor but I want to see how important it is to fix. I got quoted $1000 to repair it so far. Does the rear main seal leak motor oil or transmission fluid?

I'd imagine it depends which side is leaking. I'd suggest you clean it really well and if it comes back take a paper towel to it, and if its red its tranny fluid if its brown its motor oil.

Timing belt service was due at 180k. Look for a receipt that shows the labor was paid for, not just parts (there have been cases where a seller bought the parts then returned them, just so they'd have a receipt to show a buyer)

Yeah, Craigslist is notorious for these kinds of tricks. By the way @BayAreaZ65 Congrats on your purchase.
