I just purchased an 03 GX470 for a decent price. When I registered the vin on the drivers Lexus site, miles shown in service history has around 100k more than what’s showing on my odometer. Is there a reason why?

not sure on all entries but last service record shown was in 2019, last year. And the miles shown on the Lexus website doesn’t match what is shown on the odometer

If someone rolled back / tampered with or misrepresented the mileage by changing the instrument cluster and not disclosing it that is fraud and is likely a felony and a prosecutable offense.

Those clusters fail often. Someone may have replaced it and not had the mileage corrected. Either way, if it wasn't disclosed during the sale you can take legal action to get your money back and have whoever sold it to you investigated by that states motor sales authority. Curious if you ran a carfax though? That surely would have been on there.

I bought it from a private seller. His listing was what’s on the odometer. Not sure if he knew about it or not. I didn’t know about the vin look up on the Lexus website till after I bought it. It’s my first Luxury brand car. But my previous cars were Toyota’s.

Does the service history on the Lexus and Carfax sites show a steady increase in the miles over the years, or is there a big jump/drop at some point?
But yeah, I would be suspicious of rollback odometer fraud.

The ECU does record the mileage (kilometerage..)
Not sure if a generic reader can show it, or if you need TechStream.
