The Definitive LED Bulb Replacement Thread
Hi all,
After being hunkered down during the Coronavirus ordeal, I've finally updated all of the bulbs in my GX to LED. I had to do a lot of research, multiple thread and google searches, however here are my results. I figured it would be helpful for everyone who wants to do the same to theirs. Complete bulb list and photos at the bottom. The only bulbs I did NOT replace are the Amber LED Mood Lights in the front housing / Amber lights in the front foot wells / Amber lights behind the door handles. For the Interior, I chose 3000K Warm White, as the brighter 6000K are too bright for my eyes in the interior at night.
The process was surprisingly easy to be honest, with the most time-consuming part being the disabling of the DRL to run LED Turn Signals with built in resistors (I didn't want to mess with adding resistors, and the bulbs I purchased work flawlessly - both front and rear). I am by no means mechanically inclined, but I only struggled removing the DRL wire from the pin-connector. Everything else was pretty much straight forward and easy.
Total cost for ALL bulbs was < $250.
To run LED turn signals, you have to disable the DRL as the bulbs I used have built in resistors. Thread here:

To change your Turn Signals / Side Markers / Parking Lights, everything was done from under the hood. Thread/YouTube here:

(ignore the resistor portion halfway through)
To change your Reverse Lights / License Plate Lights, YouTube link here:
To change your Fog Lights, YouTube link here:

For everything else, it was pretty much straight forward without having to search too much, so I've left those off.

Good morning, thank you for all this information. I've changed pretty much most of the bulbs on my 2004 GX470. But when I was changing the map lights, first it blew the fuse. I changed it & everything still works as it should, but the bulb I replaced does not come on when you open the doors. And when you click it to turn it on I have to click it like 5 times. Maybe someone here can help with why it's doing this. Thank you all.

Yeah it's weird. I've changed everything but the reverse & the fog lights. Want to wait until after Xmas (maybe I'm getting them as a present, lol). So just the driver side bulb of the map lights is doing this. I am baffled. Oh well, maybe I'll figure it out at some point & will let you all know.

Do any of these bulbs need to be amber? Before I found this thread I replaced my blinker / DRL bulb and I was told to get amber. Im going to replace everything with LED now and I know that the DRL gets disabled, but I assume the blinkers would blink white without amber lenses, correct?

I just bought an LED bulb kit for $20 and replaced all the interior lights - not the best or brightest but they work. I'm curious, did you purchase name brand LEDs for the interior? I'm not in love with the 6000K color and wish I would have hand picked the lights. Could you share what LEDs you used for the MAP lights?

These for the 2nd and 3rd row:
Make sure you get the soft/warm 3,000k vs the bright white 6,000k.
Ive had no problems in the almost year they’ve been in the car, plus they come with a bunch of extras in case a bulb goes out for whatever reason.

I am happy with my LED low beam (Sylvania) and LED high beam (don't recall brand) but I am on my third pair of H3 LED fog lights off ebay and they have all been terrible (original halogens were better) on my '08 GX470.
Has anyone have a brand of LED fog lights that work well?

H3 is a small form factor so LEDs in this size have a high failure rate. Unless you have room for a version with a fan it's better to go HID.
I tried these exact ones not bright enough for me not even close.
