I think I looked at that truck at some point, which dealer in NY did you find it at? Color is pretty rare.

Lexus in Middletown NY.

If it is the same, why did you pass on it?

I have seen 2 of this color lately. One in Brooklyn and one out on Long Island.

I saw one in Mt. Kisco....if was a few years ago....dont remember why i passed...but the next week i found one at edison Lexus, white with gray interior....was in their storage faciltity in teterboro...came off a lease, 09 with 30,000 miles on it.....full service records...the mom that owned it must have spent her life at her Edison Lexus...let them perform every service they could possible offer....fuel injectors cleaned, MAF cleaner, oil change every 4 months, battery changed..on and on...but the best was, she paid for a full detail everytime she went in.....the truck was in near factory condition....

You must have paid a pretty penny for that one...

5 years ago I paid 30, they gave me 15 on my 04 GX with 180,000 miles, so 15K...for a truck that only needed new tires....I was happy...

Picking up car tomorrow. Indy said crank and camshaft seals were dry as a bone, so he didn't do those.

Maybe they were done along with the undocumented timing belt change. Sigh.

I'll post pics of the belt tomorrow for comments from the peanut gallery. I'm curious to see if you guys think it was changed.

I'm a big fan of while you are there stuff (and I can afford it) so I may add diff and trans service.
Everything above was done but the seals. Indy said they were bone dry and that changing the camshaft shields alone added 4.8 book hours. He said that it was a significant amount of extra work. I don't think he has worked on these much. I've not seen anyone lock the camshafts in any of the videos I've watched...

Anyway, below are pictures of the timing belt. Looks like a few teeth were worn pretty good. The outside of the belt had no timing marks and was glossy. Makes me think the belt had never been changed.

From the pictures, does that sound / look correct?

There were a few teeth that looked like this.

Overall belt condition

Glossy and no timing marks. Makes me think the belt is very old

Plugs looked to be in good condition, though worn,

Really? The first picture shows some belt deterioration at the tooth.

A few strings like that does not mean belt is bad. Looks worn, does not look bad. What you see there is normal, it's how belts are made, etc.

Heck, my new belt had a few strings like that. I only use Mitsuboshi timing belts.

Cracks, broken/missing teeth, shark toothing, would be of concern.

Good thing about a 2UZ-FE engine, it's a low rev engine, which is less stressful on the belts
I think the 90k user manual recommendation comes mostly from age of the belt and not so much mechanical abuse.

Good to hear I suppose. Either way, it gives me piece of mind .. not like the piece of mind when I had work done on my 996 TT ($20-40K for an engine) .. but still piece of mind.

BTW - Labor came in at $686. Not too terrible.
