Default Considering buying. HELP

I am looking at an 08 gx470 nav package, third row, towing. Its an 08 with 83k miles on it. I got them down to 14,300 plus tax tags and title and inspection.
What should I look for? Is this a good deal?

I plan on checking all functionality. Keys, nav, speakers, cruise control, ac/heat, suspension height control, etc. I plan on checking tires, rust on frame, leaks, oxidization in oil cap, make sure air suspension doesn't deflate, weird sounds, etc.

I dont have experience with 4x4's so the diffs are a bit of unfamiliar territory. Anything to watch out for? Anything im missing?

Any help is appreciated.

Its hard to find a decent GX470 in MD for that price at a dealer. Run history on it for sure! Plan on the Timing belt and water pump kit being done soon.

Avoid New Jersey and Delaware used cars. That's a live and learn statement, so take it as you will. I went to PA for mine and still had to put some cash into mine to pass our more intense inspection.

So if its at dealer in MD , inspected, the price might be fair. Just not for an out of state sale where you might need to put a couple grand into it past taxes , tags and MD's retitling fees.

Either way post some pictures so others can see what $14,000 can get here in MD.

The rear diff is the one that the offroaders usually end up replacing (the whole axle tube + pumpkin) because the 8" gears aren't strong enough for them. But if you're buying it as a daily driver, or only mild offroading, it'll be fine. No issues with the front diff that I've seen.

Inspect the transfer case for leaks. Anywhere from $800-$2000 to fix, depending on labor costs.

Once you own it, do the 4x4 service every 30k miles (more often if you tow or go off roading). This is fresh fluids for front + rear diffs, transfer case, and greasing the zerk fittings on the prop shafts. Consider a drain + fill of the transmission at the same time (not a flush!).

Of course, you will want to zero-out all the service intervals after purchase, as you probably won't get maintenance records.

I was at the dealer today (spare tire carrier is still stuck - part is ordered) and the service manager there was saying he saw a 07 with 90k up in PA where the owner was asking $20k.
That's a tad high...

Their is a sucker born every minute! When I see 20 grand listed , Its time to think about financing a 4Runner without timing belts.
