Thinking of ordering a GX with no 3rd row seat. I know Lexus states if you purchase the 3rd row it comes with rear air. For those of you that have a GX470 with out the third row seats. Does this mean that the aft side of the console will not have a air control and air outlets for the second row or does it mean just no air outlets for the very aft area where the 3 row would have been located.

David, My first GX did not have third row seat and had no controls on the rear council and no rear air vents 3 on each side. My new GX has third row seat and the rear air as you cannot order with out anymore. I just removed the seats and store them as they are a real PITA and obstruct rear vision when in the stored position. They are really for little kids as they have no leg room for adults.

 

Where did you get info that you couldn't order a gx without 3rd row seat and rear a/c.

I ordered a 2004 gx470 last week with Lexus-Huntsville in Alabama without 3rd row seat and rear air.

 

I have a deposit on a GX with Kinetic, rear camera and no third row seat (LOL). How does the rear carpet look with the third row of seats removed? I am assuming the anchors for the third row are visible and not covered by a flap of carpet. Has anyone heard of a carpet that covers everything behind the second row without these openings?

Dealer laid that on me. if not true I will ring his FN lol.

 

my dealer told me that the only way to get one without the third row was to order it. the downfall to that is that it could take up to 90 days.

 

and the carpet closes up very nicely to cover the lockdowns.

I also have a WeatherTech plastic liner thing that is custom fitted to the rear without the 3rd row installed.
It has the places marked where you would cut it to lock down the 3rd row seats, but I've never done that.
If I want to use the 3rsts, I just leave the WeatherTech in the garage.

Why would you not pop for the 3rd row. That is going to kill you on resale a few years down the road. It's like when you call someone in the paper with an Excursion, first question, does it have 3rd row seating?

 

You make a good point about having the third row seats. However, I am purchasing the GX for me, not the next owner. I'd rather have the extra storage space without having to deal with parking the seats to the sides or removing/storing them or unused third row air conditioning. Maybe the cost savings will end up as 20 inch chromed wheels. Maybe the next owner wants exactly what I want. I have asked my local dealer to check on the probability of ordering a GX sans third row since KDSS and rear camera may not be available until January or February anyway.

 

I must have misinterpreted what "modelaford" meant when he wrote "My new GX has third row seat and the rear air as you cannot order without any more". He must have meant to say that you cannot get rear without having the third row seats.

 

After I sold back my 2003 GX I wanted to replace it with a 2004 without third row seats. The dealer told me it would take about 12 weeks to special order one.

 

i dont have the rear seat and therefore no rear seat a.c., which can make it very hot and it takes a long time to cool down.....the only vents in the back r under the front seats. its worth it for to get the 3rd row
