Do I need to rear shocks if I do the front shocks?
Hi all. First time poster, long time lurker.
I am replacing my front shocks due to a broken coil with pre-assembled KYB SR4130/31. I have found a lot of helpful info on this forum, but one item was not quite clear to me...
If I put on the KYBs and therefore deactivate the electronic component of all 4 shocks, will the rear shocks still function as a normal shock? Or, will my rear end sag, or anything?

Thanks for that. Is there any wisdom as to what setting it should be on before i disconnect. I am thinking these new shocks may be a touch stiffer, so perhaps sport should be the final setting before disconnecting?

Sounds reasonable. If they don't feel right, you can put the fuse back in temporarily to change the setting.

If your change your shocks with non OEM ones, you loose all kind of dampening control. It doesn't matter in what setting you left the ****. It will work as a normal shock.

OP what is the mileage on your car? There are some confusing aspects to your symptoms & the repairs done to date.
Was the bouncy ride in the front or rear?
Replacing the front springs was unnecessary.
#1 The electronic shocks are not controlled by the ECU. Each shock, F & R, have a servo on top. when you dial Comfort, the servo moves the valve in the shock to allow more fluid to pass back & forth, thereby softening the ride.. When you dial Sport, the valve closes slightly to allow less fluid to pass back & forth, thereby stiffening the ride.
#2 The air ride in the rear operates independently of the shocks. Your airbags are old & probably leaking.
#3 F + R shocks & R airbags should have been replaced at the same time on a vehicle of this age.
I just went thru this 3 years ago on my wife's 04. New F + R OEM electronic shocks and OEM airbags. Vehicle rides like DREAM again.

Hope this helps.
