New Front Springs
I have a 2008 GX with 260k and 6 months ago I notice occasionally the rear end was sitting on the bump stops the next morning. Lexus had it for a week and could not locate the problem. Now, it’s only on few occasions the the rear is not resting on the rear bump stops. I considered a new 22 GX, but I’ve decided to apply 70k to a sports car - maybe a new LC500 convertible. My son is in his last year of college so this year will be the last of the multiple 2000 mile loops for my GX.
so I’m assuming the rear air bags will be replaced, I’m also thinking that I’ll ask Lexus to replace the shocks as well. I had them replace the shocks on my 2014 GS w luxury package at 70k and the difference in ride quality was significant; hence I would expect the same for the GX.
the question I have - should I have Lexus replace the front springs as well? I expect I’ll pay $6-7k for the work; but given a similarly equip 22 GX cost 10x I’m not sure I’d appreciate the value - not completely warmed up to the space invader look, and while I would love to have Apple play, I can continue to make do with my aux port and iPhone.
Also it’s been suggested by the dealer I could replace the bags with coils and save some money. I prefer to keep it original.
What do you guys think?

that was nice they offered to replace with springs...unusual to see a dealer think outside the box...when my day came...i stayed with air springs and replaced rear shocks...did not change front at that time, my rears were leaking.

With the crazy used-car values, I didn't have a problem spending over $2k on my recent service. [0]
That's like 2 or 3 car payments on a 2022 GX Premium. Worth it.

[0] Lexus dealers, if you're listening, now is a great time to advertise your service department. Since people are keeping their cars longer and they're worth more, they're more willing to spend on repairs.

You can have a complete 2 inch lift installed with all new front and rear springs and shocks for 2500. Seak out a professional 4 wheel drive shop and they will do the alignment also.

Metaltech, Strutmasters and Eibach both have options to look at as well. You will have 100% new quality products Strumasters will maintain that stock ride height. But if it was my money a mild lift would look good!
A good shop that lifts Toyota trucks will be the one you want to quote the work, They will need to see what parts are in stock and may have a better idea on which Tacoma parts to use for a spring conversion as well.

I can't put a lift on mine - it wouldn't fit through the garage door. 😁

Simplest is probably replace airbags with Arnott, hoepfully that cures airbag system leak.
Do the front or rear struts have any indication they need replacing?
Measure from center of hub to fender to see if front is sagging much that spring replacement is warranted.

Why would Arnott bags bottom out? If they are pumped up with proper/working height sensors, then there should be no issues.
My Arnotts have been in my 2006 for many years now, not one issue.
