Default High fuel tank pressure

Keep getting codes p0453 and p0451 replaced many parts as the fuel tank pressure sensor, the gas cap, evap canister , secondary evap canister, purge solenoid, fuel dampener, fuel pressure regulator, replaced the fuel pump etc this is giving me a headache I searched for kinks when I took off the gas tank and nothing out of the ordinary… should I be looking somewhere else?

What about the actual evap pressure switch? Those codes are evap codes. The codes come during PCM evap test, and the test is expecting a result withing some range, could be high or low pressure that causes the codes.

I do not recall 100%, TechStream on OBD-II allows you to run the test manually. A bad sensor will be ez to find, a faulty sensor needs testing data (like low or high ohms, etc).

But those are not sensors.

There has to be one or more sensors. Location I can't find. Check around the evap canister for the sensor.

What year GX470? In the diagrams for 2006 part # 890460 shows as "not applicable". It was located on top of the gas tank.

On a 2003 GX470, part # 89461-35010, located on top of gas tank.

When I did my fuel pump, I cut a bigger access hole under the rear seat. I also welded back my cutout after installing new pump and sender. I did not want to drop the tank.
Why Toyota did not put a full-access panel on GX470 is just a big bewildering question, because other vehicles do have access doors.

GX470 has small access panel right over the fuel pump, if there is a vapor sensor there then you may be able to access it from that access panel under rear-driver seat. Still not that ez, take out the seats, carefully fold back carpeting, etc.

The vapor pressure sensor is down near the fuel pump. Not in the tank, but nearby.
The dealer price is stupid expensive - like $300. I would definitely see if Techstream is able to report on it's condition.
Or just spend $20 from Alibaba on a Chinese knock-off.

Not on a 2006 it isn't. That part is listed as "NA" for 2006 GX470. When I did my pump I didn't see any sensor around the top of the tank.

On a 2003 the diagrams show that sensor is on top of the fuel tank.

I have a 2004 gx with the ftp on top of the fuel pump. I’ve replaced that as well multiple times. I check for cracks and I don’t see anything. The evap can was replaced as well as other things that didn’t need replacing. When I pump gas tho I smell heavy gasoline and sometimes the gas pump clicks when I barely started filling her up.

The vapor pressure is supposed to be in a range, not too low, not too high.

Sounds like a vapor valve issue to me if you can smell lots of fumes from a fill-up.

After driving around a bit, when you open the gas cap, do you get a little pressure released?

State inspection stations, and some auto parts stores, have the pressure test tool they screw on as a gas cap. Maybe try that as a next test.

My guess is, your evap side is not closing and you have too low vapor pressure.

Yea I’ll open the gas cap at times (not all the time) and I hear pressure release. Where is the vapor valve located? Is there a part #? Thanks for the help btw been a headache.

When you did the charcoal canister, did you have to swap over any parts from old unit to new?
