Default Blinking Maintenance Light

Maybe I just never ever noticed before, but after a start the Maintenance Required light now blinks slowly six times. What is this for? Other toyota models say it's a oil change reminder?

I have many times reset a solid-on Maint light, just don't ever recall seeing it blink six times. The GX470 has maintenance schedule "app" in the nav screen which will remind owner of various maintenance items that come due (per user setting).

It's the 'Change Oil Light'. It initially starts blinking about 100-200 miles before the oil change is due. If you do not reset and do an oil change then eventually the maintenance light will stay solid until you reset.

Goes off (blinks) every 5k miles.

How do you reset a Maint Light that does not stay on? The reset for a 'on' light will make the light go out, so you know it reset. If the light is out what's the indicator that you reset it?

I just never noticed it before. I change oil every 6mo, and I am less than 10kmi per year on my GX, drive another vehicle more now.

More lights for me to ignore.

Do you have the nav system? You can set maintenance reminders there for things like coolant, tire rotation, etc. and they'll pop up a warning on the display.

I don't think there is one. As NTH mentioned, it's a set 5k cycle...if you keep resetting it less than 5k miles then you should never see it blink. If you waiting until the 5k limit you'll see it blink and then stay on if not reset.

Yes I have Nav, that's what I had mentioned. If there's that reminder "app" for the various maintenance items, then why a blinking Maint Light?

I use that reminder app for tire rotation and coolant changes, not for oil though.

Did a check of the reminder app, I had a Air Filter past due by date, but still 1326 miles to go.

But get this, the reminder app won't take any dates beyond 2022 ! A "year 2023 bug"?

I deleted that reminder, but the Maint Light still blinks 6 times.

Try this.

1. Turn the key off
2. Hold the trip meter button down
3. Turn key to accessory position
4. Wait for maintenance light to stop blinking
5. Release trip meter button

Has to be on the A trip (or ODO, forget, lol) before doing 1-5.

I know how to do the reset, I was just not aware it could be done for a blinking light. Yesterday it went full on, so now I reset it.
