Just brought home a 2006. First post.
Folks,
Greetings from southeast Virginia. I just purchased a rather high mileage but well maintained 2006. She's going to be my primary tow vehicle for my Miata track car. I really enjoyed the highway trip home and the ride to work this morning. I already have dozens of questions, Here's the first...
She has the 7 pin connector up underneath the bumper. A Curt tubular hitch was recently added. One of the threads about having the tow package stated the "...goofy L bracket bolted to the frame along w/ a 7 pin towing plug in it. It gets relocated to the hitch once installed". How exactly is that done? I don't see anywhere on the hitch to mount the bracket/connector.
Thanks much,
poormxdad

I think I remember flipping my connector over but its certainly mounted lower its bracket. I installed this Curt hitch but my memory of the job isn't so good. Its still not exceptionally easy to reach but its easy enough and stays up high and out of the way.

If you're going to tow even 2500lbs you need to get an aftermarket tranny cooler or you'll see temps over 220 up hills. Mountain passes offroad makes a bolt in bracket. Also the towing package is only that 7 pin connector at the rear bumper and a harness under your dash with a connector (that came from the dealer in a plastic bag) that allows you to hook up a trailer brake controller under the steering wheel. Nothing else
