Hey there. I bought a 2008 GX470 and it has the stock radio with the screen display on top and the cassette player on the bottom. I would like to upgrade it with a new one and wondering if you had upgraded yours; What did you put in yours and did you install it yourself?

Many people install the "tesla style" radios that give them a bigger screen and Android integration.

Thanks. I’ve seen the “Tesla” style heads but a bit hesitant from reviews on vendors sites.

They are garbage. I purchased a 2007 GX 470 that had one in it and it’s no good. Stay away. My two cents. If your Lexus has navigation it is not recommended to put an after market radio in the vehicle.

No personal experience but I’m hearing the same things with Tesla style units.

I installed an Alpine ILX in our GX to replace the stock non navigation stereo. Looks like it was OEM. Has Apple Car Play etc, has the ability to display navigation. my stereo has never sounded better.
