I just bought my first 2004 Lexus GX470. I have to say it’s my favorite vehicle I have ever owned. I’ve owned like 7 vehicles in the past 3 years and it runs better than my 2015 BMW.

I bought it 1 week ago and now it’s making screeching noises from the engine when it’s warming up in the morning and I’ve noticed oil around the engine. Sounds like something is leaking. I’m super new to working on cars. Can I get any insight?

also it’s 217K miles but looks like new. Any tips to making sure it runs forever?

Check in a few places.
Crank seal - any wet oil at the bottom of the cover? This seal can develop slow leak, and then fan blow oil to other places.
Power steering stuff.
Trans pan gasket.
Vlave cover gasket.

The key to long life is good maintenance. Use a good synth oil and filter, change every 6mo.
The engine itself can easily go 300kmi, but everything around it may not.
