Default thanks lexuslover

followed your override instructions on my 04 gx and they worked like a charm. i've been searching for something like this for a year now...its like finding the holy grail! i especially like the fact that your passenger can now pull up local POI lists on the go like searching for restaurants or hotels

I second, Strat1's, statement. It is nice to find something which if used with some reservation, allows access to those menu's by a passenger. Kudo's to you "LexusLover", thanks for one of the greater tips in this forum.

Go to Menu
Hit DVD button in upper right to view the DVD version
Hit Top Left, Bottom Left, Top Left, Bottom Left, then Bottom RIGHT

That will get you a blue system menu
Press and Hold Override for a ~3 seconds
Release , and "Override" will be highlighted
Press Back

Then your passenger or you can enter destinations while driving . . .

Caveat: there is one key difference from the Gen4 nav. You can only access the DVD version screen when stopped, so you are better off doing this when you start up the car, because you won't be able to override once you are on the road. (of course you would only do this if you anticipate needing it, not when going to-from work or the local market)

This is absolutely the best post I've found on this forum. As a previous user of an after-market Garmin StreetPIlot, which allowed the user to disable the in-motion route modification prohibition (after a suitable consumer warning against the risks of so doing), this work-around is terrific!

You are my hero.

I'm away from my car for a few days...

Does this "over-ride" function have to be input each time you want to use the nav's POI on the go? Hopefully, not!

Any other easter egg / secret codes?!

You have to enter it when the car is stopped...ONCE. Then it will funtion until the car is turned off. So, basically, each time you turn the car ON, you need to do this if you want to override, or stop, enter override, then proceed.

Do you know if it allows DVD play while driving in the 2006 GS300?

I'm sorry if I mislead you in the orginal post, but in my defense, when I originally placed the order in early June, I was told 6~8 weeks, this is now the 8th week...

I still think it's worth the wait especially now that they have the BT option available. In the meanwhile, the service menu "hack" works great for me!!!!
Lonewolf69, I did not see a post from you on this since this one in late July. Did you get the unit from Coastal Dave? Did it work? Did you try the Bluettoth as well?
