Default Burned my first DVD Audio

And the GX played it without problems. Navigating the songs needs some getting use to but all in all very happy. The volume on the music is lower than expected but I think I can fix it after tweeking the software. I used Audio DVD creator. Took about 5 hours of rendering on my Dell 3ghz, 1gig memory. 9100. Anyone have a better software that can do the job faster let me know.

Are you using DVD for audio? Not sure why a CD wouldn't work or did you mean burning a DVD movie than DVD shrink does a wonderful job as well. I have noticed DVD +R to be an issue though.

I should have elaborated. Since the DVD player can play DVD_Audio music. I wanted to create my own mix of music on DVD and have it played through the system. Since the truck is new and my wife use it mostly. So now just encoded my favorite songs on to DVD and now can be played through the trucks system. Trying to figure a way to get the title of the songs to show up on the screen though. Got about 200 songs on the dvd but took 5 hours of encoding. And I am familiar with DVD shrink and decrypter. Lot easier than burning a bunch of CD for the CD changer.

Since I have 15 years in Law Enforcement I know whats legal and what's not.

I burned a AUDIO DVD. DVD with Music on it too be compatible with DVD player in the vehicle.

And your are right, it is illegal to copy movies.

I think that you need to understand the difference between DVD audio and copying DVD movies, what the post is regarding is no different than burning a CD, he put together a compliation of songs (200 of them as mentioned above) and wrote them onto one DVD that will play like an audio CD while in the vehicle. Unless the songs were illegally downloaded, there is nothing illegal about this practice. Get your facts straight before jumping down someone's throat next time.... sheesh

As for DVD audio rendering, I have no suggestions, I have almost the same setup as you do, I have 2 gb of ram though and the rendering is not much better. While I like the DVD audio option I ended up breaking down and purchasing the VaisTech iPod integration package because I wanted to be able to see what I was listening to. Overall I do like it a lot better.

It's only illegal to copy a DVD or any other copryrighted media if you infringe the copyright laws, therefore it is illegal to copy a DVD and distribute it - you are well within your rights to make a copy of media for personal use only, ie. make a copy in case the original is damaged etc. Take a CD and make MP3's to put on your mp3 player etc. All that is legal.

The only muddy area with DVD's right now would be copying an encrypted DVD, some movies are encrypted and some software will allow you to copy an encrypted DVD (most Disney stuff and many others). Breaking the encryption to make a copy falls under a different law and it has yet to be fully determined if it is illegal or not to copy encrypted DVD's - we do know however that it is illegal to make software that will break the encryption in the US.

I use Ulead Burn Now and choose dolby digital, audio only dvd. The quality is great, and I can burn about 300 songs in about 45 minutes on my Dell P4, using 6x copy speed. It is annoying navigating the disc. Also note that you can only navigate (skip using controls) to song 99. If you want to go to song 100 either let song 99 play to the end, or fast forward song 99 on the audio menu screen. For some reason the DVD player only works in 99 song increments.

Thank everyone, didn't want to get into the legality issue for something that was misunderstood. But most of u got the gist of the post. Anyway I will try that Ulead software. See if that can cut down on the time.

Here's quick instructions on the Ulead software. On the first screen (select a task) choose the audio disc in the create box, then choose audio only dvd video in the disk format box. Next it will go to the add music screen. On the top of the menu bar is the format. Default is LPCM Audio. Hit the dropdown and select Dolby Digital Audio. You can put about 5 times more music on a disc in Dolby Digital Audio format, and covnerting the music takes much less time and memory.
