Default GX470 chrome rims?

First time poster! I bought a 2006 Lexus GX470 with chrome rims (paid 150/piece). Now I'm having second thoughts. Basically, the dealer had them on (the car) and I didn't want the car to go back to the shop (for replacement).

Should I go back to the STD alloy rims? The dealer (Lexus of Steven Creek, Santa Clara, CA) says that they are Lexus chrome rims. I can't find them listed anywhere! The BIG question I have is, ARE THEY SAFE? Was I duped?

BTW, they have the Lexus logo.

Thanks tire/rim specialists.

I'm no specialist but my chrome wheels are dealer installed and are covered by the warranty. They do have the Lexus logo and are the chromed version of the factory alloys.

Default Chrome wheels not OEM

Therefore, the chromed wheels are not OEM.

Complain to the Dealership that you got shortchanged. Tell them that you do a five wheel rotation and want the spare chromed.

My bet is that they will refuse. You then call the Lexus 800# and complain.

My bet is that they will tell you that they are not responsible for Aftermarket Equipment.

My experience, such as above happened to me with an Infiniti QX4. After much wrangling the dealer did offer to chrome my spare at their cost.

The wheels are OEM and were chromed later, probably locally. I didn't pay for a chromed spare.

Sorry, I misunderstood. Thought you said that your Aftermarket Chrome is covered by your Lexus warranty.

You didn't misunderstand, Cap. According to the dealer, since they installed the chrome wheels prior to delivery, they are covered under the warranty.

Jon....

I was told the same thing, until I tried to get the dealer to live up to the contract we had that showed that I had paid for a set of chromed wheels. They went on to say that the Industry Standard states that a set of wheels = four wheels. That's when I called the factory and was informed that they don't stand behind the dealer on any After Market items, such as chromed wheels.

You could be right. I've only had them replace the wheel cap that carries the logo because it was loose and a few months ago, they put on four new chrome stem caps.

I believe you only get four chrome wheels when factory installed. I personally know of two instances, plus my own, with a steel 16X7" black painted spare supplied with Lexus chrome wheels. Mine have "Toyota" embossed on the chromed aluminum inner wheel surface. There is a inner and outer rim edge used to attach Lexus chrome wheel weights. You can't depend on the hubcap to determine original equipment.
Now, Lexus may have changed the policy on newer years, thus supplying five.
