Default Xenondepot HID problems

I installed the 6000k HID kit in my Lexus GX 470 for about 6 months without any problems. But last night, when I started my GX, only one out of two HID bulbs lighted. So, I turned my light off and on again and both HID bulbs turned on. This is the 1st time that it happened. What do you think is the problem? Is there anything wrong with the bulbs?

There is no problem I think its just the relay sticking mine did that twice in two years but the kit never had a problem once you turn off the lights and turn them back on manually. I think the auto turn on feature might not be sending a signal strong enough or something. I would not worry about it unless you start getting it once every week which is unlikely.

If its the relay sticking then both lights should not turn on. Sounds more like a bad connection or a ballast problem.

you're right Gman. i would think the same thing too, because there is only one relay for both headlights.

hey Tony, your does that too? did you do anything to fix it?

Are these the older LVQ12 (Large) ballasts you are referring to? If the bulb is hot and turned off even momentarily it might need warm-up time again to relight... "HID lamps require a warm-up period to achieve full light output. Even a momentary loss of power can cause the system to restrike and have to warm up again—a process that can take several minutes. " Slim ballasts have separte igniters for some reason they are less prone to problems... just in case recheck your connections to make sure there is no loss of voltage anywhere... again HID ballasts do do this.
