I have had many lexus vehicles over the years but they have been daily drivers for my wife. I now also own one (GX470) and mine and my wife's GS300 have the same door lock "issue". If one door is open you can't lock the car without reaching inside and pressing the door lock.

This a minor inconvinence for her but a bigger issue to me. I travel a lot and when I am pulling my luggage out of the back I can't lock the door with the fob while it is open, then grab my bags and shut the door with my body. What I must do is put the keys in my pocket, open the door, pull my luggage out and set at least some on the ground, shut the door, reach in my pocket and pull out the key, lock the door, then grab my luggage. In addition, when we are just parking I need to stand outside the vehicle and wait until she gets out and shuts her side door before I can lock it unless I realize ahead of time to lock it from the inside right after she has opened her door.

These all may seem minor, but especially in a hard rain storm or cold weather, I prefer to have more control with the fob.

So the net of my question is: Is there a way to reprogram the keyfob operation so that I can lock the vehicle when one door is still open?
