There was also a thread on this a few months ago. It is a very easy install and the felt keeps coins quiet.

Or you can get some self sticking felt paper from a arts and craft store and do it yourself and save $45.

the stock ashtray has that metal release plate inside that the drawer doesnt have.
the drawer makes it easier to access the stuff inside becasue you dont have to try and get under / behind that release tab.

Ill try and look but I found it someplace else for nearly half that price.

Can anyone reading this thread go into how to install it? Is only the lining insert replaced or does the whole thing pop out?

It is a new "ashtray" so you remove your current one, take the front plastic faceplate off and put it on the new one that has a felt liner. Then slide it back into the ashtray slot. It is very easy!

Thanks for the info. Can you tell me one more thing? Does the front plastic plate just slide off or pop off or what?

Sorry I did not get back to you - I was not following the threads very closely last week. pump142 took care of you with the right info. Did not want you to think I left you hanging.

No problem, thanks for getting back to me today. Did you need any special tool to remove the old one and replace the new one? I am not mechanically inclined at all.

Nope, none that I can recall, but I did this 3 years ago. From what I remember the factory ashtray has a spring loaded lid that you hold down and then you slide the whole thing out. Pull/slide the front plate/cover off then put it on the new non-smokers unit then put it back in the dash. It is very easy and once you see it, it makes much more sense. Just be careful not to scratch the front cover. When you see how the cover is held on it becomes obvious how to take it off - only can come off and go back on one way.
