Default GX Height Control not working?

HI, I'm a new GX owner, just bought a 2005 GX470. Finally started to tinker with the options, and can't get the height control to respond. Checked for blown fuses, but they all look ok. The "off" light comes on initially when the ignition comes on, then goes out, just like the owner's manual says it should. The lights for "H","N","L" all come on, then the "N" stays lit and the other two go out, again just like the manual says it should. But when I try to use the "HI" or "LO" or even the "OFF" button on the center console...nuthin. Got 36,000 miles on it, any suggestions, or should I just get it to the dealer real quick before the warranty expires!

Is the vehicle running while you doing this? Start the vehicle then try it. Not just have the ACC on. Listen for the air compressor, it comes on to raise the vehicle. Relief valve opens to lower the vehicle.

Thanks forthe tip, but the engine was running when I tried. Of course, I didn't think to listen for the compressor, so I just went to the garage to try again anyway. Still nothing. Seems to me to be electrical since I'm not getting any indications at all. So I rechecked the fuses. Still all look ok. But next to the engine compartment fuse box is a small compartment that looks like a fuse box. Has two places for what look to be relays. One is for "DIM" the other for "AIR SUS" the same as the ID for the air pump fuse. And lo and behold, the space for the AIR SUS relay is empty. Wonder if it was taken somewhere along the way for another car, or if it was removed duriing maintenence and never replaced, or if it isn't even necessary at all... I guess my next step will be to see if I can order that part! Any chance someone out there might know the part number of the relay I need?

Yea that might be it, check your owners manual. They should be cheap. Good Luck.

Just to follow up, I've talked to a couple dealers, and the spot where I thought the relay was missing is usually empty. So, back to square one. I'll be sure to update this thread after I take it in for service and find out what's up!

Just a quick thing (that i am sure you already know)...the GX only lifts it's butt (rear end). The front end does NOT lift. The rear lifts via air bags that are electronically controlled.

Sorry if this is a useless post, but just wanted to point it out.

Just curious what the result of your service appointment was. I really like the height control as I use it quite a bit for loading and unloading stuff. Plus it makes it easier to get the kids in the car.

Just got back from the Lexus Dealer; turns out a previous dealer had done some work on the DVD, and must have needed to disconnect the wiring harness from the height control panel to facilitate access to the DVD player. Apparently the other dealer had never hooked the control panel back up, and it had never been caught until now. So it's working fine now that the wires have been reconnected.

Cool. Good to hear that it was an easy fix.
