Default Gx470 RSES not able to read DVDs

I have a 2003 GX with RSES. Up until 2 weeks ago, it looks like the DVD is unable to read DVDs. When I use the remote to play a DVD, it comes back with DVD Seek, or something to that effect. I know the remote is operational, as I can use it to access radio, CD, power, etc. functions. The DVD can be inserted and ejected at will and the green power light is on. Has anyone encountered this issue and know what the fix is? My 4 yr old would be most gracious if there was a fix out there. Thanks.

The DVD unit may have gone bad. You may want your dealer to take a look at it. Maybe it's just as simple as the lens being dirty.

Thanks for your opinion.... I didn't really want to take it to the dealer... I know it'll be quite costly I'm sure and I'm out of warranty.
I just tried using a music CD in the RSES DVD and same result... 'DVD Seek' was displayed.

You can still have them examine it and not replace it. Maybe they can just clean it. That will be cheaper than replacing it, of course. I would suggest using a store bought disc cleaner, but I'm not sure if any are advisable for use in Lexus's player.

Where is the DVD player you guys are refrencing? RSES is an acronym for what? I have the magazine slot in the glove box and a DVD player in the center counsole.. Do I have "RSES?" I started a thread w/dvd player q's.. this one happened to be pertinant as well..

RSES = Rear Seat Entertainment System

DVD in center console -- I don't know what that is. Is it on the roof of the vehicle like the RSES is? The only other disc player that I know of is in the glove box.

No, I have a screen in each headrest and my DVD player is mouted vertically in the storage area between the driver and passanger seat arm rests.. I can close the little doors and it is hidden..(fits perfectly) This is not typical of RSES?

sounds like you have an aftermarket unit installed.

Mine is also not working. DVD will insert and remove DVD, but no green light and the screen displays DISK CHECK when the DVD is inserted. Any ideas would be helpful. I would like to avoid removing the console and DVD player unless I have to.

Thanks
