Honestly... You can't go wrong with either of them. The Philips 4300k bulbs will be the most durable though. They also are rated at slightly more lumens.

Steve, does the dealer install these and how does it effect the warranty?

Hi,

Dealers can install this for you (depending on the dealer). There is no legitimate reason for this product to void your warranty in any way as the kit comes with a proper relay harness ensuring that the ballasts receive power directly from the battery as opposed to the OEM wiring.

Does anyone know if this problem was addressed with the new 2010 GX?
No one can tell you what the 2010 model will have. I should find out from my dealer about a month before it's available. I'm not going to purchase the 2010 GX if it doesn't have HID's. The LX 570 doesn't have them, so it wouldn't be a surprise if the 2010 GX does not have them. I hope I'm wrong. I will just keep my 2009 BMW X5 twin turbo diesel if Lexus doesn't have HID's on the new GX.

The new GX will not have HID, Lexus is always thinking about the safety of other drivers on the road, but what they fail to realize is that it is unsafe to drive the GX at night because the head lights are so weak.

?

Is that really the reason? There are plenty of other large SUVs that have HIDs with no problems.

Thats the reason I was given when I ask Lexus headquarter a while back. The GX and the LX is high up. Much like the Nav lock out, Lexus want to set an example for auto industy. HID are reserve for the smaller SUV such as the RX. Its just another example of Lexus thinking that they know what is best for us.

Now come on , the lights aren't that bad. Maybe you should have your night vision tested.

The lights are that bad! Perfect night vision but I swear the lights seem like they are pointing into the ground. Yes this was the first thing the truck went in for when we bought this in 06. They said they fixed it....No better. Will replace the lights.

I agree, nothing wrong with the lights. They are good enough to see in the darkest places. We live in a rural area, no city lights, all dark highways, and both my wife and I are able to see with ease.

Granted, there is nothing like H.I.D. lighting, but they are nothing to complain about.

Age does degrade the eyesight, especially at night. My wife and I are in our 20's, and our eyesight was very good at our last check-up. Maybe it is time for an eye exam.

Even compare to other halogen lights, the GX's low beams are pretty weak. Lexus always purposely aim their low beam lower on their trunk, another one of those Lexus knows what is good for you senerios. I adjust the beams higher when I had halogens, they were at the low end of the legal limit, and aim them back down when I switch to HID.
