Default Brake Job

I have rotors and pads ordered for this weekend's project. Has anyone tackled fluid change and bleeding yet?

Well, since no response, I found a little info online that I think will work.

I started the project this afternoon and was going along pretty good. Got both rear rotors changed and installed new pads. Went to the front and found both caliphers each had one frozen piston. Got some rebuilts coming in the morning, pending the weather. After that, I'll get on with bleeding the system with DOT 4 fluid.

Well after bleeding the system twice myself following the thread I found with no success, I found a shop that said they had the computer and could do it. Talked to them Friday, and they still can't get a good pedal. They power bled from the booster and backwards from the caliphers. Not sure what's next, but hope they find something soon. The wife is getting tired of sitting at home.

What a PITA for such a simple job. My shop guy said he power bled both directions using a computer. After over 5 hours of messing around, still didn't like the feel of the pedal. He researched and found an old TB regarding improved thicker shims for 03 and 04 models. So, 50 bucks for a shim pack later, I'm back on the road. Having gone through 1/2 gallons of DOT4 fluid and the frustrations, I would not advise doing this at home.

I had brought a 1 gallon jug of DOT4 fluid to the shop when a dropped it off. He ended up using most of it. Only charged me $138 for the work, including the shims, which I thought was great.
