After owning my GX for 1.5 years, I finally figured out why the AC wouldn't work. The compressor would cycle on and off like rhythmically, 14 seconds off, 7 seconds on. It was very baffling. We checked everything! I went thru the repair manual and tested every circuit. It finally came down to the evap temp sensor. It was reading slightly off. So for about $20 I have super cold AC!
Today. I decided that maybe I should stop searching for an FJ Cruiser and that I should get a "Roam Build" Lexus GX470 instead. Thoughts, ideas. and help much appreciated

The part number for mine was 88625-35090. It's called a thermistor cooler no. 1. It probably depends on your production date for the part number. The other issue was the black plastic piece that holds it in place. This part number was 88891-35050, called a cooler cover no. 1. I work at a Lexus dealership and that cover showed as discontinued but there was one left in the country. So we got them to ship it to us. It's not just a cover, it attaches the full length of the sensor and holds it in place.
This is the best picture I could find of it. This is the "cover" and sensor.
