I found led bulbs on eBay to replace the incandescent ones. I paid $3.88 + tax for 10! They have since gone up to $6.50 from the same Seller. I ordered the wrong color thinking they were green, but I actually like the green bulbs better! The green contrasts the amber light when you switch them on. I often forget to turn them off, and don't notice until the next day. I think the green might help. On my ES300 the seat heaters turn off as soon as you switch off the ignition, which is a curse in wintertime (if you can call it winter in SoCal). Here's the eBay description:
10x Green Neo Wedge 1 SMD 1210 LED Bulbs T3 HVAC Climate Control Lights N001
I'm pretty happy with the results. I followed the replacement instructions above, which we're awesome. The only difference between the left and right switches was one lock was a push and one was a pull for ) for lack of a better description), but definitely different connector locks between the two switches. The only other caveat for removal was to pull from the top of the switch then from the right side to remove it from the console. You're experience might be different.
I absolutely need the instructions. Oh, one more thing... to remove the old bulb I used a small electronic screw driver tool (designed for small electronics work) but to install the new led I uses a tiny pair of needle nosed pliers,.BUT if you pushed it into the tiny round holes too far, they blocked the bulb from locking in place. Maybe a rubber gloved finger would work better? Here's some pics. PS: sorry for the giant photos.
Does anyone know how many T1 bulbs would be needed in the interior? is the Heater seats bulbs the same for the 115V and other illuminated buttons/modules?
Almost all of the GX470 switches use Edison Miniature 3mm bulbs for illumination and status indication. There are about 12 of them. The one exception is the exterior mirror control switch which uses a 5mm bulb. You will recycle the quarter turn plastic twist base that holds the bulb. I reused the flexible plastic green color filter covers because they were not included in the shipment for some reason. I used the ones off Amazon.

I was able to lift the switch up from the console, but the wiring harness was too short to get access to the disconnect. All three switches come up at the same time.
You may have to pull the console trim strips and the console shifter cover to allow enough wiring cable slack to disconnect the switches. The DAC switch beside the shifter likely has a burned out bulb anyway so you can access it's connector as well. Pulling all of this is documented elsewhere in this forum.
I got mine up but not far enough it seems. I will try again but The wires seem to be holding it in place. It only came up about 1 inch. Any suggestions.
You can take the top off the switch without pulling it out. The clip is toward the front of the car, back of the switch. From there you can access the light on the left side
I had bought a pack of 50 (or perhaps 100) little bulbs from some electronics place many years ago (exact OEM match). I still need to replace the indicator bulbs, been meaning to do that for past few years.
