Default Just did a dump/fill and transmission filter kit at 110k

It was bugging me that I hadn't done this on my wife's truck yet. All shifting was normal and smooth before service but this is preventative. Fluid was a brown tint which said to me it was good to get some fresh fluid in the trans. For anyone considering it's fairly simple. Drain fluid, pull pan, change filter, install pan and fill. Filling is pretty simple, using a wire lead to short between two slots on the OBDII port is only unusual but easy piece to the fill. I would recommend this for people contemplating this service.

you can't just drain it. it has to be pressurized out. all you got was probably a few quarts from whatever was in the pan. probably another 15qtsthing in torque converter.

that's fine, as long as you use the same oem transmission fluid ie don't mix and match - just do this regularly every 3rd oil change for several times and it's ok - or just take it to the shop and have them do it one time and be done

I pulled out (measured) and filled just over 5qts. I will not change filter but in 20k or so I will dump and fill again.

those filters are good for atleast 100k miles... 5qts is alot so you should do it again in another 20k... what year is your truck?

Truck is a 05. I do not like the idea of a flush, more so from experience. A dump and fill is noninvasive service. The magnets had the expected amount of material for 110k.

Out of curiosity, would you mind elaborating?

When you flush, sometimes you loosen deposits that could be stuck in your tranny and cause problems. Thats why its best to do the drain / fill method but its rather expensive since you should drain / fill at least 3 times. Cant speak about the GX yet since im new to it but thats the reason behind people not liking the pressure flush. Whether thats true or not, I dont know but Ive always used the drain and fill on my past vehicles but I guess on the GX you cant.

excellent explanation rcsgx, ur a very smart man, many times more than i... good to know cuz when i need help i can find you...

most infiniti vehicles moved away from pans and only have drain bolts... ie their 30k mile interval drain and fill but the problem with infiniti is they went on a budget non-synthetic fluid so ur forced to do it every 30k mile to get fresh fluid in there to keep the gear shift buttery smooth...
