LS to GX? bad move?
Hello all,
I usually frequent the LS forum. I have a pristine LS430 with 70k. I owe 12k on it. I am thinking about getting a more practical car before winter comes as the LS is terrible in snow. I don't want to "downgrade"' to an RX simply to have 4WD and the GX seems to be a logical choice. I want something as close as possible to an LS truck. The LX is out of the question due to it's size.
Anybody have experience with both vehicles? I see that a CPO GX is about 30k, with the options that I would want. I would hope that that the dealer wont rape me too badly on the trade in. Not sure if this is a wise move. I know it wont be the same ride as my LS, but is it still an amazing machine in it's own right? Not sure what to do. I would like to test drive one soon. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks. BTW- do all of the GX's have that comfort/sport switch for the shocks? What about the KDSS? Is that something worth looking for?
Thanks

We have both GX and LS. My wife like the GX more, but I prefer LS.
If snow is only an issue w/ the LS, I would buy a set of snow tires and a few sand bags, and you will be all set for the winter.

I have an 06 GX with 112K miles. Today I replaced the front transaxle boots, 1 of which was cracked and beginning to leak lube. Cost was $525.00. Prior to today, I've only done scheduled maintenance and replaced tires, brakes and a battery. I bought the GX the week before Christmas in 2006 so I have found the GX to be exceptionally reliable. Prior to getting the GX I had an 04 Touareg. It stranded me 8 times in 18 months. After the eighth time I drove to Lexus and traded.
