make sure the kit comes with the anti rattle springs, that was missed by Lexus at one time and private shop, that ultimately figured out. The brakes make a rattling noise that you will only hear with the windows open. Noise goes away when you apply brakes....here is the OEM part number from the Sewell web site. I have about 15K on the new brakes, calipers and rotors...no problem. The truck never did stop on a dime, LOL.

My Lexus service department took care of getting the parts; I didn't do the work myself. They were line itemed in my invoice at $69.95, Part #44227 which I believe were Centric. At that price, I'm sure they're rebuilt ones but they only charged me $58 in labor to do the work so as long as all 4 calipers don't fail at the same time...

Cheers,

Wait, the Centrex brakes make a rattle noise now??? Or was that before you installed the anti-rattle spring? I don't want rattling brakes - that would drive me crazy!

lexus, centrex, they all rattle, the spring did not come with the kit from my understanding....needs to be ordered seperately. Just ask, save you a return trip later.

My OEM brakes do not rattle, never have - this is the first I am hearing of a rattling problem with the Centric rotors.

I replaced pads and rotors w/OEM 30k miles ago and I did experience some squealing aftterwards, but that was because the shim kit was not replaced - problem solved with new front shim kit. My truck rides and brakes very quietly - no noises other than the engine.

I ordered the springs, but did the rattle go away after you installed the springs or is it still present?

Kermee - how about you - do you hear rattling noises with the Centric rotors?

Obviously the clips were replaced at other brake jobs, just giving you a heads up, the clips have nothing to do with the rotors, it prevents the pads from rattling around in the caliper as they wear down, just a paper clip. You would never hear e noise unless you rode with windows down when you ride over bumps. Do a search, others have complained when they were not installed with pad replacement. They did not come with the centrex kit, my installer had to go back and order them afterwards. Brakes still worked, just could not stand the nois.

New Centric rotors, pads and remanufactured calipers installed today. Pull is GONE completely.

There are a couple of issues for which I will need to take my truck back tomorrow. It appears there is still some air in the brake lines since the peddal is VERY soft and it travels much further down.

I also noticed that the left front caliper is making a a bit of "clunk" sound when I depress the brake peddal when the truck is moving. It goes away after I come to a complete stop and hit the peddal a couple of times, so I am not sure if perhaps the caliper didn't get torqued down enough or what???

Update:

I was getting some rattling from the pads and a clunk during braking, so I replaced the Centric pads/shims/anti rattled springs with OEM pads/shims/anti rattle springs and the rattling and clunk are gone - truck brakes great/quiet once again. The aftermarket pads/shims are just not engineered to the same tolerance as the OEM pads so they just don't fit as good resulting in noises.

Otherwise, I am pleased with the remanufactured calipers and new rotors I ordered from JC Whitney.

If I had to do it over again, I would purchase the calipers "unloaded" and bought OEM pads, shims and anti-rattle springs from Sewell. So in the end I paid a little more since I bought the calipers "loaded" only to replace the pads w/OEM, but I still saved A LOT $ vs buying new OEM calipers.
